This 120-hour course for the Certified Nurse Assistant and/or Red Cross trained Nurse Assistant will focus on the role of “Assistive Personnel” and the latest trends in health care. This progression course for the para-professional teaches crossover skills needed to work in varied healthcare settings such as acute, sub-acute, hospices, mental health, home health and long-term care. Skills taught include, venipuncture, Electrocardiogram, respiratory care, wound care, dietary needs, basic treatments and adult CPR skills. Upon successful completion participants receive the Red Cross completion certificates for PCA, pin and Adult CPR card. Course fee is $1000.00 for private pay enrollment or $1,050.00 for non-private pay enrollment. Day sessions are offered every other month.

Requirements:

  • Must be a Certified Nurse Assistant and provide a copy of state license or have completed the Red Cross Nurse Assistant program in the last 12 months.
  • Must provide proof of a Diploma/GED, have a minimum 9th grade reading and math aptitude.
  • A Federal Background Clearance will be conducted by Veterans Hospital prior to a Clinical Practium Experience.
  • Must provide a negative PPD TB skin test or chest x-ray result. 
  • Must be in sound physical condition with no health condition which could be aggravated by participation in the program.
