Red Cross Clubs-Youth in Our Schools.
The American Red Cross engages over 169,000 youth annually in the following areas: education, training, volunteer and community service. Southeastern Michigan Chapter ensures that we are doing our part by offering unique and exciting opportunities to get youth involved throughout Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
Youth are concerned about their communities and the world in which they live in, but they often feel that they cannot affect change. The purpose of the American Red Cross youth program is to train youth to become lifelong advocates of volunteerism as a quintessential part of a balanced life. In addition, to creating positive change within their communities and the world in which they live, exposing youth to the mission and the fundamental principles of the American Red Cross, enables them to help us meet the challenge while learning how to better manage their time, lead a group of people, and sustain professional working relationship.
Statistics show that volunteering helps to improve school perform, reduce delinquency, and help youth develop a sense of belonging in their school and community.
Mission related community service activities can include cleaning up streets, planting trees, and organizing food drives, , environmental awareness, violence prevention, and other major youth issues. Other ways to get involve include: First Aid for Children Today, Basic Aid Training, Safe on my own, Community Disaster Education-Masters of Disaster, Babysitting Training, Comfort Kits, Change Changes Lives, Fire Safety and Prevention Training, and Red Cross Clubs.
